Tillandsia juncea, also known as the Needleleaf Air Plant, is a striking epiphytic plant characterized by  long narrow leaves that are typically stiff and tubular, resembling grass or needles. The leaves can range in color from green to gray-green, with some specimens developing a slight reddish tint under certain conditions.

Tillandsia juncea is an epiphytic plant, meaning it naturally grows on other plants or objects without soil. It absorbs water and nutrients through its leaves from the air and rainfall, making it an ideal choice for mounting on driftwood, rocks, or other decorative elements.

  • Light: Tillandsia juncea thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Place it near a window where it can receive plenty of filtered sunlight throughout the day. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, as this can cause the leaves to burn.

  • Watering: Water Tillandsia juncea by misting the leaves with room temperature water 2-3 times per week, or by soaking the entire plant in a bowl of water for 20-30 minutes once a week. Allow the plant to dry completely before placing it back in its display area to prevent rot.

  • Air Circulation: Provide adequate air circulation around Tillandsia juncea to prevent moisture buildup and improve overall plant health. Good air circulation helps prevent fungal infections and ensures that the plant can absorb nutrients effectively.

  • Mounting: Mount Tillandsia juncea on a piece of driftwood, rock, or other decorative element using non-toxic glue or wire. Avoid using adhesives that contain chemicals or toxins that could harm the plant.
