Spring onion winter hedge Freddy (Allium fistulosum) : winter hedge is a perennial, hardy spring onion. Sowing from March to July. Pruning of the aerial parts in late autumn. After new shoots harvest from March / April.
Shallot or leek onions can be grown for several years for leek use and one year for whole plant harvest. Spring onions do not form a real onion but only a weak thickening.
Requirements: Soil that is not too heavy, humus, not freshly fertilized.
