Sesuvium "Sea Fig"

Sesuvium, commonly known as sea purslane or sea fig, is a genus of succulent plants in the Aizoaceae family. These plants are typically found in coastal regions and are well-suited to outdoor cultivation in areas with mild to warm climates. Sesuvium plants are low-growing succulents with thick, fleshy leaves. The leaves are often spoon-shaped and range in color from green to grayish-green, depending on the species and environmental conditions. 

Depending on the species, Sesuvium plants may produce small, colorful flowers in shades of pink, purple, or white. The flowers typically have five petals and may bloom sporadically throughout the growing season.

• Sunlight: Sesuvium plants thrive in full sunlight. They require at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight per day to maintain healthy growth and vibrant foliage. Plant them in a location where they will receive ample sunlight, such as a sunny spot in your garden or along the coast.

• Watering: Sesuvium plants are drought-tolerant once established and prefer dry conditions. Water them sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot and other issues.

• Fertilization: These plants generally do not require regular fertilization, as they are adapted to grow in nutrient-poor soils. However, if you choose to fertilize, use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half-strength and apply it sparingly during the growing season.
