Peperomia is a diverse genus of plants that includes several species well-suited for indoor hanging baskets. Peperomia plants are prized for their attractive foliage, easy care, and compact size.

Peperomia plants have a wide range of leaf shapes, sizes, and colors, making them versatile and visually appealing. Common characteristics include thick, fleshy leaves that can be heart-shaped, oval, or lanceolate. The leaves often display interesting patterns, such as variegation or a textured surface. Popular hanging varieties include Peperomia prostrata (String of Turtles), Peperomia rotundifolia (Trailing Jade), and Peperomia scandens (Cupid Peperomia).

• Light: Peperomia plants thrive in bright, indirect light. They can tolerate lower light conditions, but their growth may slow, and variegated varieties may lose some of their coloration. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

• Watering: Water Peperomia plants thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. Overwatering is a common issue, so it's better to err on the side of underwatering. Reduce watering in the fall and winter when the plant's growth slows.

• Fertilization: Feed Peperomia plants with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in the fall and winter when the plant's growth slows.

• Pruning: Prune as needed to maintain the desired shape and size. Regular pruning helps promote bushier growth and removes any dead or yellowing leaves. Pinching back the stems can encourage a fuller appearance.

• Propagation: Peperomia can be easily propagated from stem or leaf cuttings. For stem cuttings, take a cutting with at least one node and a few leaves, and place it in water or moist soil. For leaf cuttings, cut a healthy leaf with a short stem and plant it in moist soil. Roots should develop within a few weeks.
