Guzmania Mix

Guzmania is a genus of bromeliads known for their vibrant, long-lasting flower bracts and striking foliage. Guzmania plants typically have rosettes of long, narrow leaves that can be solid green or variegated with stripes or spots. The leaves form a central cup or reservoir where the plant collects water and nutrients. 

Guzmania plants produce showy flower bracts that come in a variety of colors, including red, orange, yellow, pink, and purple. The actual flowers are small and inconspicuous, nestled within the colorful bracts. The flowers can last for several months, adding a burst of color to indoor spaces.

Like other bromeliads, Guzmania plants can help improve indoor air quality by removing toxins and adding oxygen to the environment. While not as effective as some other houseplants, they still contribute to a healthier indoor environment.

• Light: Guzmania plants prefer bright, indirect sunlight. Place them near a window where they can receive plenty of filtered sunlight throughout the day. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves.

• Watering: Keep the central cup of the Guzmania plant filled with water at all times. Use distilled or rainwater to prevent mineral buildup in the reservoir. Additionally, water the soil around the base of the plant when it begins to dry out, ensuring that the roots have access to moisture.

• Fertilization: Feed Guzmania plants with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid fertilizing during the winter months when growth slows down.

• Pruning: Remove any dead or yellowing leaves as needed to maintain the plant's appearance and overall health. You can also trim back spent flower bracts once they begin to fade.
