Height: Approx 60 cm
Light: Chrysalidocarpus palms prefer bright, indirect light indoors. They can tolerate some morning sun or filtered sunlight, but direct sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the leaves. They thrive in bright, well-lit rooms.
Watering: These palms like consistently moist but well-draining soil. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry, and allow excess water to drain away. Avoid waterlogging, as it can lead to root rot. Reduce watering slightly in winter when growth slows down.
Fertilizing: Feed Chrysalidocarpus palms every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half-strength. Reduce or stop fertilizing in fall and winter when growth slows down.
Potting Mix: Use a well-draining potting mix formulated for palms or general indoor plants. A mix that includes peat moss, perlite, and a bit of sand works well to ensure good drainage.
Pruning and Maintenance: Remove any yellowing or dead fronds by cutting them back close to the trunk. Regularly wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to keep them clean and free of dust, which can interfere with photosynthesis.
