This brilliant green, very aromatic plant and essential ingredient for Italian tomato dishes and pesto but can also be used in many other dishes. Prefers a sunny, sheltered position in fertile, free draining soil. Grows well in pots and late summer plantings will allow your basil to be nursed well into winter in a sunny window or greenhouse.
