Jasminum polyanthum, commonly known as Pink Jasmine or White Jasmine, is a popular climbing vine known for its fragrant white flowers and rapid growth. It's a delightful addition to outdoor gardens, providing a sweet fragrance and lush foliage. Jasminum polyanthum has dark green, pinnate leaves that are composed of 5 to 9 leaflets. The leaves are glossy and provide a dense, attractive backdrop to the flowers.

The plant produces clusters of small, star-shaped flowers that are white with a hint of pink when they first open. The flowers are highly fragrant, especially in the evening and early morning, and bloom profusely from late winter to early spring.

  • Light: Jasminum polyanthum thrives in full sun to partial shade. It blooms best with at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight each day. In hot climates, some afternoon shade can help protect the plant from intense sun.

  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the growing season. Water the plant deeply and regularly, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in the winter when the plant is not actively growing.

  • Fertilization: Feed Jasminum polyanthum with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to promote growth and flowering. Additional feeding every 4-6 weeks during the growing season can be beneficial.

  • Pruning: Prune after flowering to shape the plant and control its size. Remove any dead or weak stems to encourage healthy growth. Regular pruning helps maintain a tidy appearance and prevents the plant from becoming too invasive.
