Buxus "Boxwood"

Buxus, commonly known as boxwood, is a popular ornamental plant used for hedges, topiaries, and container gardening. When grown indoors, Buxus can add a touch of elegance and structure to your interior spaces.

Buxus has small, glossy, dark green leaves that are oval-shaped. The foliage is dense and evergreen, providing year-round interest. Buxus has a compact, rounded growth habit. It can be pruned and shaped easily, making it ideal for topiary and formal garden styles.

• Light: Buxus prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight but should be protected from the intense afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves. Place the plant near a north or east-facing window for the best results. If natural light is insufficient, consider using grow lights.

• Watering: Water the plant thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Buxus prefers evenly moist soil but does not tolerate waterlogged conditions. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot. Reduce watering in the winter when the plant's growth slows.

• Fertilization: Feed the plant with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid over-fertilizing, which can lead to excessive growth and weak plants. Reduce fertilization in the fall and winter.

• Pruning: Regular pruning helps maintain the desired shape and size of Buxus. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches to improve air circulation and overall plant health.
