Pink Pixie paper flower (Bougainvillea 'Pink Pixie') is a member of the Nyctaginaceae family. It is a true dwarf form of the huge tropical vines that are star performers in tropical gardens, and is used to provide a bright splash of color in bonsai gardens.

Thorns of bougainvillea and spines of cactus are similar. They are modified stem and spines are modified leaves in cactus. But thorns as well as spines control the rate of respiration and protect the plant from herbivores (animals).
